Classical Guitar

FAQ

Am I too old or to young to start playing guitar?

You are never too old or too young to start playing an instrument wheter it is piano, violon or guitar. There are some contraint especically for younger children where the instrument might be too big for them. For more on instrument size go to our "Choosing a guitar" page. Best answer to this question is start whenever you feel like it. What is important is that you like what you do.

I can't read music, would that be a problem?

No, as this is one of the things you are going to do, learn how to read music (not tablatures). Music notation is a language that is used by all instruments so if at one point you want to learn another instrument, you won't have to relearn the language.

I already have a guitar, how do I know if it is okay?

Bring your guitar to first lesson, we will have a look at it and let you know if it is suitable. It is important if you want to enjoy your learning experience that you use a good instrment. Again, if you want to know more about the instrument, consult our "Choosing a guitar" page.

How do we pay for lessons?

Lessons are payable a month in advance and you can pay for them in many ways. Trough this site there will soon be a payment page in place. You can also pay by cash, cheque or credit card on the first lesson of the month.

How many lessons per month?

This will vary as we follow the school calendar. If there is a statutory holiday (except for Pro-D) on the day of your lesson this one will be cancelled. In other words if there are only 3 lessons in a month, you will only pay for that. There are no lessons on Christmas break and Spring break.

How long and how much is a lesson?

Lessons are half an hour and are $16.

Will I also be doing some music theory?

Yes, you will, but most of it will be done trough the pieces you are learning.
